So, sometime this weekend I should be sending off the prizes from the contest. Next time I do a contest I will have the prizes ready before I post it :)
I finished a b-day present for one of my seestors yesterday, and I was patting myself on the back when I realized that I completely missed one. I'm not sure when her b-day is, but Mica, if your reading this, I picked a pattern and your present will be cast on this weekend!
Guess what!!! The fall issue of Vogue Knitting comes out this weekend! There is a beautiful sweater pattern in there that I have been looking forward to since like April I think! I'm going to knit it for my oldest. We picked out yarn at a yarn shop in FL when I was out there for her EOD graduation :) It's a very soft washable wool. I'm hoping to have it done in time for her b-day in Sept. I can't believe she is going to be 21!!
Oh, here is something I can tell you about. The hubby and I finished laying the flooring in my house last Saturday! :D One less thing we have to do before we sell it.
Speaking of the hubby, we will be married for 5 years this Saturday. I know!! Somethings seem so far away and others seem like the other day.

Blank Slate
So, I finally emptied the memory card on my camera. It seems to be working just fine since it got back from Sony :D woo hoo!!
I was going to post the pictures in chronological order, but then I would have to go back and forth from folder to folder and I'm too lazy for that, so your going to get them by topic.
We'll save the yarn stuff for last and start with my trip to Florida!!
It seemed like no matter which direction we left base, we were on a bridge.
Very long bridges in every direction.
As most of you know, I was in Florida for my daughter's EOD graduation! Here is my lovely daughter without her "crab" for the last time!
We got to the school a little early
so we could mingle with the rest of the graduates and their families.
The ceremony was held at the EOD memorial across the street from the school.
This school trains all of the EOD techs for all four branches of the military. The size of the class shows just how elite this field is.
That's all of them! There were no Navy guys, one Marine (just right of center), and the rest were about half Air Force (dark camo) and half Army (light camo w/ berets).
The only woman was
Nikki of course!! :)
We toured the school, she said goodbye to her teachers, and just like that.. she's and offical EOD technician.
After graduation we headed to the beach for lunch with one of her classmates and his family.
The were from IL. Very nice! ;)

We swam for a little while, but the waves were pretty big, so we went to a little yarn shop called Unwind. They were very nice to us inspite of the fact that we were still wet and looked very beach touristy! I forgot my camera in the car!! :(
We looked at possible yarns for the baby.. this green if its a boy, this is cute if its a girl. I think the ladies were more than a little confused when Nikki kept looking at her still very flat belly and asking, "what are you?" hahahaa
Luckily for me, the very helpful lady sitting at the counter was logged on to Ravelry. She looked in my queue and found out how much, and what weight of yarn I needed for a sweater I plan to make for my daughter.
Oh Ravelry.. what did we do before you?
Nikki picked out the colors, we got a wool/ acrylic blend, its very soft and a little shiny in burgandy and black, and of course, we got some yarn for socks. She picked a very pretty cotton blend worsted weight. It will make very warm socks, which is great since she is stationed in NC where I think they have winter. Since we were supposed to leave the next day, we called it a night and left the shop in the calm quiet that we had found it in.
The next morning, she went to the doctor to get her medical release, and found that they had decided that she was not going to be able to leave yet :(
The road trip was canceled. :(
She didn't feel very well most of my visit, so I spent most of the week in a hotel room on base. But it was really nice spending time with her and I'm glad I was there. I got the little A-line dress for my niece done too :) (the pic will be posted when I get to the yarn stuff :)
My last day there, we went to Panama City. I couldn't resist one more lunch on the beach!

We went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum. Here's a little fiber for ya..
Get out the sheers, I want a unicorn sweater!!
The biker in me couldn't help but get a pic of the ancient brass knuckles!!
Then we went to the mall so I could get started on being the favorite grandma!!
My flight each way had long layovers in Atlanta. I ate lunch alone at TGIFridays on the way there, it wasn't that bad, but ya can't really knit while you are eating, so it was boring.
On the way home, there was a Chili's in my terminal, so I got in the long line, and when the hostess led me to a table for two next to another woman about my age drinking a tall beer waiting for her lunch alone at a table for two, I asked if she minded if I sat with her.
She looked like the kinda person that would be up for talking to strangers! I was right! She said, "yeah.. have a seat."
We had a pleasant conversation over a good meal, and then I made her hold my knitting hahahaha
She was a great sport, and I think I wrote her name on my pattern, which is lost in my stash room now, so I'll just say thank you, and I hope your new job in LA is going well.
Opps I almost forgot the alligators that were in one of the surf shops we went into!!
Now, on to the yarn!!
The week before I left, I took my camera to cc. I got some pics of what the ladies are making with the yarn I dyed!!

I left for cc last night with no pattern, no yarn, and nothing on the needles!! I know.
I stopped by Nancy's Quilt shop for inspiration, and left with some beautiful hand dyed superwash sock yarn, but still no pattern.. I tinkered around with gauge swatches, and actually cast on two at a time Monkey's, but I changed my mind and pulled it out.
I think I'm going to make the next seestor a tank top in red, white, and blue and save this yarn for something for my niece.. or maybe grandbaby!

BAAADD BLOGER!!
So, I had to make a choice.. get closer to something resembling "caught up" on my knit/crochet, or blog. I know, I'm sorry. It had to be done. However, that means I haven't even loaded any of the pics off my camera.. no knitting pics.. no crochet pics, not even trip to Florida pics.. I know! I suck. I'm sorry.
Anyways, the plus side is, my niece finally got her b-day presents (about 3 months late), Jeni got her wedding blankie (2 months late) and I some how managed to kitchner the sock from last Tuesday night and knit a whole second sock in time for a party Saturday!! It was worth letting the blog slide a little.
I did have to wake up early Sat. to finish the sock, and thank goodness it was super wash.. and yes, even though I left them out on the dashboard on the way there, they were still a little moist when they came out of the gift bag hahhaa. I don't care! They were on time, and I didn't even have to use the actual b-day date! (wed.) :D
I currently have 1 project going on. That's right, I said ONE! It's the So Called Scarf it will be done tonight!! it is long enough that if I had cast off, it could have been done last night and since it 100 billion degrees here in the desert, I'm calling that one early! (even though it is probably actually late for last year ahhaa)
So, now I am going to go to Ravelry to find a pattern for the seestor whose b-day is on the 4th of July so I'll have something to work on Tuesday night and this coming Saturday which is WORLD WIDE KNIT IN PUBLIC DAY!!! Don't forget!
I will be out and about all day and into the evening. Anyone that wants to hang with me is more than welcome, and I can fit 4 bodies w/knitting bags in my fuel efficient car!! :D So far, I'm thinking Borders, Wooly Wonders, a coffee shop in Henderson, and then the Cellar in Boulder City for some wine!! (they have killer desert too). I'm open to suggestions and changes in direction too!!
On the baby front.. my daughter is on her way back to base :( She is doing well though. She has been able to keep down a fair amount of food, and she got all caught up on the sleep she was losing!! 8 weeks :)
On the not yet front, I've gotten all the blood work done, 6 tests in all, done on the correct days this time. I love my new DR so far :). This Friday I have a hysterosalpingogram. Should I be worried about the fact that it is on Friday the 13th?
It doesn't sound like a whole lot of fun, but at least I won't have to do it with a full bladder like the pelvic ultrasound that I'm getting done following Tuesday night. (which means that I'll be missing yoga and cc! :( )
The directions are... at 6pm drink 48 oz of water.. make sure you have drank it all by 7pm. Then.. don't pee! Come down here so that around 8ish.. we can press on your bladder for a little while.. and umm don't pee on our bed!
I've done this one before.. trust me it truly is as bad as it sounds!
Well, I will try to load some pics and not keep yall hangin' too long! :)

NEWS!!!
So, I didn't want to be the one to spread this on the internet, but since my daughter has it all over her myspace, I guess its safe to post..
I'm going to be a GRANDMA!!
I KNOW!
My oldest step-daughter (the one in the Army) is going to be a mommy.. she is due around x-mas time. The daddy is in the Air Force!
I repeat.. I KNOW!!
Not a week after the hubby and I decided to try to have one together!
Baby's everywhere (hopefully). I have an appointment tomorrow to get a referal to a fertility clinic. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
Oh, I spent all weekend working on the floors in my house. I'm tearing up all the tile and putting in wood! It should be done this week. The hubby was working on the drive way out front (it looks awesome!!), and the grass is also supposed to be here this week!
Then.. I go on vacation. Road trip with my Army of one, soon to be mommy of one :)

So, I'm sorry if your blog lines is going crazy saying I've posted like a hundred times today!! I found a way to post the videos of my friends riding the mechanical bull! I think they are above.. or maybe below this post.. they are floating around somewhere.
Anyways, I actually have been doing stuff that is post worthy, I just haven't posted it. I'm sorry, I'm a bad bad blogger.

My MC had our annual support party. There is a video of the band either above or below this post. (there goes blog lines again.. ) The band is UPDOG, they are very good.
We had a pool tournament this year, I didn't get a pic of the winner, but here's some of the action :)

A good time was had by all. There have actually been many, many more parties and runs since ours, (WOW that was back in FEB.. I am a bad blogger!!) I didn't take any pics to share though.. sorry.

I have also been working on a granny square blankie for her wedding April 5th!! I need to get going BIG time.

There is a pair of socks for my ssister Linda on the needles too. I am making them out of some Louette Gems that came burgundy. I dyed it to have black stripes :) They are turning out very punk!! I love'em, I think I'm going to have to make another pair for me someday!!
I am doing these two at a time on two circular needles. I like this technique, but you have to make sure you check the pattern first, if you need to move stitches around at all, you could have more trouble than it is worth!
On other yarn news, I have been dying a bit of yarn. When the colors have names, I will post the pics :)

Low Rider
So, over the weekend, my hubby took my son to the insurance agent and the DMV. Today is his first day back to school from winter break, and he got to drive his car to school! While wearing his Letterman Jacket that he got just in time to wear to school the last day before winter break. He should be having quite a fine day! :D
For those of you who remember, I played women's pro-football last fall. The banquet was this weekend, but I did not go. I got a call afterwards from one of my co-lineman, and she said that she picked up my trophy for me. ?. I won the Most Improved Offensive Lineman award. Sweet! I have never had a trophy for sports or anything athletic at all, so to recieve something like this.. when I'm 30! was pretty cool. (I'm still not going to play again!) The team has changed to a new league that plays in the spring, and their practices start THIS Saterday! Their first game is in 100 days! I wish the Las Vegas Showgirlz much luck, and I will see ya'll at your home games!
I got the 2 HMB squares done on Saterday (they will be sent out today after work) and I finally got to the decreasing side of the organic cotton hooded towel on the diagonal that I am knitting for one of the babies coming at work. I'm hoping to get it done before the baby gets here, but that could be any day! I already have the wash clothes done to go with that baby bath set :)
Oh my did I have a good time at Gail Knits on Saterday! It was the first day of their winter sale, and boy am I glad that I didn't wait!
I bought her last swift!
I also procured:
4 lovely hanks (black, burgandy, deep royal blue and silver) of wool/silk for Val's skull argyle leg warmers
3 hanks of vergiated black/red wool for a scarf for me (I know!!)
2 hanks gold, 2 hanks black cotton/wool for a groovie new scarf that I am going to design for the hubby.. (before next winter)
one skein of blue/purple/light grey toefootsies for Jeni's socks
and
2 hanks of some very interesting yarn that is a combo of like 5ish yarns all run together
I thought this was different yarns all spun together at first, but then one of the fine ladies that was working there showed me a sweater that had been knit from a different color way of the same yarn, it looked pretty cool, so I bought it.. I'm not sure what I am going to make out of it, or for whom it will be... it is pink and gold and greyish, I'm not sure what other colors, and part of it is fuzzy and part is smooth, some is metalic.. it ends up striping..?! I will ball one of the hanks and post pics of it soon.
Well, its Monday, I better get to work :)

So, I went to sleep when I got home from work on Wed. and did not get out of bed until around 2pm yesterday. I forfeited 24 hours to this cold, but I think it worked. I'm feeling quite a bit better and it's Friday!! SWEET!
I promised my first two HeartMade Blessings squares to an assembler in IL!!
I did a search in the list that they keep online for the oldest "Operation Purple Heart" afghan that still needed squares! I was surprised that the oldest one is only from November! These ladies really mean business!
I will be setting everything else aside until I get the 2 promised squares done. I plan to have them sent out on Monday! :) I am going to find out the postage for 1 square and for 2 squares so that I don't have to go to the post office every time I need to send something out :).
I know, I said I was going to do 1 square a month, but she is working on 2 afghans, and I figure this will give me a little leeway that I may need later in the year :)
Gail Knits is having a sale this week.. Sat.- Sat. I am going to go get a swift to go with the ball winder that my hubby got me for x-mas. JoAnne's is also having a sale that includes Patons Classic Wool. It is -$2 from its normal price, so I am going to go pick up some for the helmet liners that I'm making.
All of a sudden there are a bunch of people I know that need them. My hubby's brother and my friend's brother are both going to boot camp in Feb. So, I guess I will make them each one in addition to the 2 for my daughter before I will be able to start sending them in to the charity.
I'm going to count these in my goal of 12 for the year.
I have not contacted project Linus yet, but I will when I get a couple things moved from "in process" to "done".
My daughter and her fiance are gone :( She dropped him off at the airport at butt-crack am Thursday, and I vaguely remember her waking me up for a goodbye hug sometime in the lost day. She had the tattoo on her back fixed up by Dee at Ink Inc. on Wed. night, it looks much better. Thanks Dee.. I will have her send me a pic to post when it is all healed up.
She will be back in Vegas for about a month after she graduates from EOD in April :D woo hoo!

First of '08!
So, woo hoo its '08!
After fighting off co-workers and baby's and even visiting soldiers, I finally lost the battle... I'm sick :(
I started getting a little snifflie at work on Monday, but I blamed my allergies. Then at the New Year's Eve party we went to , I blamed it on the smoke. At the New Years Day party we went to, I blamed my ever worsening symptoms on my allergies and the smoke, but on our way home, when I resorted to wiping my nose with one sleeve and my watery eyes with the other, I finally had to admit that I am sick. :(
In one last ditch effort to pretend I wasn't, I went to cc last night. It was the last one before my daughter heads back to her base, and I didn't want everyone to miss out on meeting her. We went for about an hour, she got to meet a few of the ladies, we ate and then headed home.
I stopped on the way home and picked up the super duper big box of Day Quill, the super duper big box of Ny Quill, a large bag of Halls cough drops (I don't have any coughs yet, but the mentholyptis clears my nose), and the multi pack of pocket size Kleenex pouches.
While we were there, I was informed that we were out of laundry detergent.
As I stood there staring at the never ending selection, trying to decide if I wanted the usual or a new scent, my daughter said, " I use this, doesn't it smell nice." :)
me: "I'm sure it smells great, but I can't smell right now (sick), besides, I'm looking for detergent, not fabric softener."
daughter: "no, I use drier sheets, this is detergent."
me: " no, this side is detergent, that side is fabric softener" (pointing up at the sign)
daughter with a puzzled look: "oh, look its right here on the bottle. fabric softener...huh"
me trying not to bust up right there in the laundry isle: "you haven't been washing your clothes ?..... just swishing them around in peach scented fabric softener ... and then drying them with drier sheets"
daughter: "yep."
me: "but your clothes smell good"
daughter: "and they're soft.."
hahahahhahaha
I love her, but I think her roots might be blonde :)
In the middle of writing this I went to get lunch, I stopped by the "green room" on my way back to visit with the wonderful wardrobe ladies that knit/crochet at the end of their breaks.
There was a lady there that I have seen down there before, I think I may have even spoken to her before, but for some reason it just clicked today.. SHE IS ON MY RAVELRY FRIENDS LIST!

Did ya miss me?
So, as you can tell by my new layout, I am ready for spring! Anyone else?
I mean, don't get me wrong, knitting with wool is a lot more fun when it is cold, but this is supposed to be the desert! :)
Maybe I would not mind the cold so much if I had kept one of the billion scarves that I've made hahaha!
Perhaps the next one :)
Let's see.. did everyone get their x-mas projects done on time?
I did, but I must admit, my list was not too ambitious. Just a couple pairs of knit socks, and a couple crocheted scarves.
I am currently trying to finish a couple helmet liners for my daughter before she heads back to her Army EOD training. :(
I'm going to miss her!
I am using Patons Classic Wool for both, the crocheted one is dark olive and the knit one will be natural.
I will make her try them on so I can post picks for ya'll :)
I found this charity through a link from somewhere and decided that I should make sure my kid's head is warm and then start sending some in to these great ladies for the rest of the troops.
I am also working on some socks for... me!!
That's right all, I'm going to make something for myself!
I am making Monkey socks out of Collinette Jitterbug in FIRE! Talk about a hot foot.. hahaha I'm funny.
I have a just a few rounds of the lace on the first sock started.
I have been looking over my planed projects for this year.

biker sister's b-day Feb. - scarf
Jen's wedding April - blankie and socks
Val (in time for Jen's wedding so I don't have to mail it) April - duvet cover

Other than that, I've decided to make time for some charity work.

Helmet liners for our Troops goal of one per month

Project Linus goal of atleast 2 blankies

My oldest is home from the Army for a couple weeks, her bf is here with her. He proposed Thursday night at the fountains in front of the Bellagio.. she said yes :D We are all very happy, he is a good guy!
The middle one is living with her mom.
The youngest got his Varsity Letterman Jacket this month!! He also got his DL last month, and he and my Hubby have been working on his '65 Olds trying to get it all tuned up so he can start driving his own car instead of mine all the time.
I'm sure there is more, but that is all I can think of right now.

Who stole all the days?
So, if you look to right over there, it is extremely obvious that someone has stolen some days!! I sware it should still be like 30 something... shouldn't it??
Crap.. I don't think I'm going to win this one :(
I hope you all had a fine Thanksgiving.
I, on the other hand, spent the weekend sick.. and stressed like only an evil-step-mother can be.
We are trying a new thing with one of the kids, I hope it works.
On a slightly more possitive note, I have successfully eaten twice today!! yeah :)
Being sick all weekend did have a few good side effects. One, I think I actually lost weight over the long turkey weekend, two, I did not go shopping and spend all kinds of money just because things were on sale, and three, I got a decent amount of knitting done!
With x-mas looming around the ever nearing corner, I'm sure that it is no surprise that like every other crafty type person out there, I am knitting and maybe crocheting some x-mas presents. So, just in case any of those people actually stop by here, I will not be posting any details or pictures or anything about said projects until after the gifts have been given.
I already mussed up and posted pics of the red hat socks! I'm pretty sure that the person they are for does not even know that I blog, so I should be alright with that one... (fingers crossed).
Well, I have to go over to the change colors part to fix up my blog all x-mas like, I hope it gets done, and I hope you like it :)

# 100
So, this is post 100!!!!
I have been wanting all week to post, I didn't want to waste the 100th episode on:
so umm hi late.
We'll start by looking back.
A couple months ago, I became a rescue diver. One of the requirements for rescue is that you have to be an advanced scuba diver, to become an advanced scuba diver, you have to do "specialty" dives, and one of the specialties I chose was underwater photography!
I promised you pics back then, but never got around to posting them.
(sorry)

it must be my ausome powers of camera operatoring!

He saved my life on a previous dive!
Like totally for real!
He transfered to Macau, China to work on the new Cirque show that they are developing for the Venetian Macau.
This catfish was just swimming around watching us..
he hung out for a long time, so I took like a zillion pics of him, but I'll spare you..

There is a really bad infestation going on at Lake Mead.
These are zebra muscles.
Bad news for the lake.. but easy to photograph.
This is a mooring.
Divers and boaters set them up to have places to tie off their boats.
The lake used to be just a valley, sothe bottom is very deep. Just dropping anchor is not always so easy.
This activity is illegal in federal parks, don't get caught!
It was very "bad" weather for the desert,
but since we were already wet, we didn't let it bother us.
This is the "batch plant".

They built this during the damn days. (hahah) It was used to wash gravel before it was sent to the cement mixers.
Not too long ago this whole thing, island and all, was 102 feet under water!
Now instead of being a good dive,
it is a good hike. :(
There are still cool parts and pieces underwater though.
And more fishy pics :)
And somethings that "fell" off boats...

Ok, now for the more recent past...
aka, last weekend!
Friday, my son's football team lost the first game of the play offs :(
Most of the players were Seniors, and they had a really strong 2nd half, so the end was a pretty emotional. They just ran out of time.
Proud parents..
Friendships forged during years on the battle field..
And great athlets
that will be on opposite sides of the ball next time they meet on the field.
Alot of tears were shed.
It was truely moving to see all these big tough guys showing so much emotion.
Go GRIZ!
See ya'll at the football banquet.
(I'll still have my camera.. so wash your face... and comb your hair!)

This whole thing started as a Showgirlz Tattoo day, but the girlz are not big on RSVPing, so I extended the invitation to my cc, my mc, and my sister-in-laws!
The turn out ended up being wonderful, a full day for all 3 artists!!

Yeah, so, I restarted the red hat sock and the red was traveling around in a real cool spiral thing, and then..
it started going straight.. ??
I wanted to keep knitting last night to see how it ended up, but it got to be way too late :(
Grr... x-mas is getting way too close for this people!! I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet.
This weekend, my son goes for his driving test, the red hats are having a function, one of my sisters is racing her drag bike at the speedway, there are a couple bike things (including THE Turkey Run on Sunday), and I need to knit!
