WWKIPD
It's my new favorite holiday!
Now, no one here in Vegas put together a big shindig, so what I did last Saturday could really be recreated any Saturday, but it was fun!
The "usual" group met at Borders around 10.
I knew that the "usual" knitters would understand if I completely ignored them, so I quickly cast on a new pair of socks. Talking and casting on 2 at a time on 2 circs doesn't always end happily!
"That guy" who usually gets mad at us for being too loud in his cafe didn't seem to mind us being there this week. He looked over like he was going to jump right into our conversation a couple times, but he didn't look mad or anything.
He must have been feeling our Festive vibe ;)
Next stop in our WWKIPD yarn crawl was Wooly Wonders!
We were down to only 3 of our "usuals" Mayme, Deena and myself, but this shop comes with its own!
I love this shop!
I have never felt the "you're not from around here" vibe in this store. You know when you walk into a new yarn shop and the "locals" get restless, sometimes, dare I say.. snobby?
Not here, well, not that I've seen anyways.
The only problem with this shop is that if you stop in to say HI, and fall for the, "sit and knit a while" trick, you will lose your whole day. (I mean, if you can call that a "problem")
UhOh.. I think Deena likes this shop too!!
It was very good to be reunited with some of my yarn!
I love to see how it knits up! Thank you Charles :)
Yarn and dye supplies brought back up to an exceptable level, Deena and I decided that it was in our best interest to leave the yarn shop. :) It can be hard to knit when there is soo much yarn around to look at.. and buy.
Since the mercury was starting to bubble up around the 105 mark, we decided it was time to get out of Vegas!
We didn't go very far, but it was nice enough in Boulder City, with the aid of misters, to sit outside.
Milo's has a great patio, and if you sit up next to the building, your wool (and acrylic) stays dry ;)
Their wraps are almost as good as their deserts.. well not really, but they were really good.
A little beer, a little sangria, and of course knitting in public, the not-also-knitting-in-public public ;)
That's all I've got for ya right now, I have to go scuba diving.
I love my job!
Well, sometimes.

NEWS!!!
I'm going to be a GRANDMA!!
I KNOW!
My oldest step-daughter (the one in the Army) is going to be a mommy.. she is due around x-mas time. The daddy is in the Air Force!
I repeat.. I KNOW!!
Not a week after the hubby and I decided to try to have one together!
Baby's everywhere (hopefully). I have an appointment tomorrow to get a referal to a fertility clinic. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.
Oh, I spent all weekend working on the floors in my house. I'm tearing up all the tile and putting in wood! It should be done this week. The hubby was working on the drive way out front (it looks awesome!!), and the grass is also supposed to be here this week!
Then.. I go on vacation. Road trip with my Army of one, soon to be mommy of one :)
Oh, I almost forgot. I am in a hat race thing on Ravelry, I didn't even realize it started, and someone already won round one.. guess what they are getting as a prize.. some hand dyed yarn from me!

Exactly 1 Month
First, I will show ya what I have been holding off on sending till I got my camera back to take pics of.. I mean working on for my niece.
Here's a "my so called scarf".
A sock for one of my seestors. This is actually the first yarn that I dyed.. :)
And.. here's the yarn.
Moody is still here...
LagoonPink Lemonade
Punk
Sunflower (aka Dejon) The original sold, from here down is new yarn from vacation day Monday.
Weeping Willow,
Lemon-Lime
Sherbet
As some of you may have noticed, there is a lot of yarn missing.. :) Well, my trip to the LYS went very well. I didn't realize that there was going to be a shop full of knitters there. I started to show my yarn to the shop owner, and she called her customers over to have a look.
First question: "You dyed this?" Second question: "How much?"
I looked at the shop owner, and she gave me the go ahead!! I was shocked! Knitters started handing me money and walking away with my yarn.. un-pictured yarn!!
Wait.. I need that.. umm you can't uh.. nevermind.. Can I help you ball that :)
So, I sat and knit for a few hours. A couple of them live on the north end and may come to cc this week!! It was very nice to meet new people, I wish I had pics to show :( I left my info with the shop, she said "we need to talk" :) I KNOW!! Right.
I will have my camera tonight, so bring stuff for me to take pictures of!

New yarn debut
I took my new yarn and new stitch markers to cc last night. I think each color got an " i like this one". :) That makes me very happy! I hope the ladies aren't just being nice. I will find out this Saturday.
The very nice owner of the LYS where I buy my dye has asked that I bring in some yarn to show her. Since I forgot last time, I decided to not sell any of this batch until I show her. If you are reading this and you want a specific color that you saw last night, leave me a not in the comments. If someone buys it Saturday, I'll make another one before next Tuesday.

New Colorways
I tried taking pics with my phone, it didn't pick up the colors.. then I tried with my son's camera again, but alas it does not take close-ups at all! The colors are there, but you can't even tell that it is a skein of yarn!
I'm going to call the camera shop today, just in case they lost my number and were unable to call me with a quote.
I have almost finished knitting a little sun dress for my niece, as soon as it is done, it will be sent with the sweater and the little gorilla "piggy" bank. It should get to her just shy of 2 months late.. I'm such a bad aunt!
Well, without pics to show you, that's all I got :(

Dear Sony Please fix my camera. love nobody
Within 2 hours, someone in ONTARIO had bought a set! (Canada people!! I've gone international!) Then to my surprise, when I logged on this morning, I found that another wonderful knitter had purchased 3 sets! They will be shipped off to PA tonight!!
To all of you that have been so supportive of my efforts, thank you very much! I will try to keep making things you like. I have some un-dyed yarn on its way, and I will find a way to post pictures of it as soon as it is dyed!!
In other knitting/crocheting news.. I finished the two at a time socks, I started a sweater for my niece, and NO, the wedding blankie is not done yet. No pictures.. :(
I took my broken camera to a camera shop, but the tech could not diagnose the problem. He sent it off to Sony for me. I miss my camera :( I hope they can fix it!
My son's 2.1 mega pixel just doesn't cut it. My phone takes better pictures!
In memory of when I could take pictures, I have some for you today from the last time it worked... my friend Jeni's wedding.. woo hoo!
I love mid-westerners in the desert in spring!! :D
I was kinda put in charge of the "no strippers" bachlorette party at the last min. with the only direction being.. "we want tattoos".
SWEET I can do that!! No notice needed.
Where once there was blank skin and faded tattoos
There would be fresh ink!!
The beautiful bride,
the maid of honor,
the brides maid,
and the other midwestern friend,
all got wonderful tattoos from the extremely talented artists and Ink Inc. They never let me down. :D
Is it just us? or does this caladah look strangely like the wicked witch from sleeping beauty?
Mirror Mirror on the wall...?
BA tattoo for a chef eh?
Now we see why she got this tattoo the first time..
It's so pretty.
Then we went to Freemont Street, cause once you take someone down town to get a "yard stick",
you know they are going to want to go back!!
And of course, no bachlorette party I'm at would be complete without some bikers!!
The wedding was early the next day :D It was so beautiful!
I hadn't seen her parents in atleast 8 years..
Mom on the right.
Dad.. also on the right.
They got married at the Chapel in the Sky at the top of the Stratisphere :)
Adam didn't really seem nervous at all.
The bride's maids dresses were great!
I was cryin' like a baby!
Ok, now he looks a little nervous.
Some last min. advice from Mom.
(notice the fresh tat! ;)
Awwwww
I'm so happy for you Jen. I hope you and Adam are as happy as me and my hubby! (I know you've already been together WAY longer than us.)
That was the end of my picture taking abilities. :( There was a beautiful reception, and then we went and picked up my son from Prom!! and me with no camera! I hope that I hear back from Sony soon!!
